The Baroness, Scarlet and Ron by Dominic-Marco The Baroness, Scarlet and Ron by Dominic-Marco
This was a commission from the father of A Real American Hero himself, Ron Rudat. He was the creative genius at Hasbro in the 80's who designed the majority of the characters we know and love from the GI Joe line such as Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, Scarlet, The Baroness etc. so it was a real honour (and a bit intimidating) to have him ask for these characters (and himself) in my style. I think he's going to have this image printed so that he can use it for autographs at the various GI Joe conventions in the upcoming months.
For the story behind the pic, you need to watch the documentary that Ron and his son are making about the original team of designers who created the line-up of Joes in the 80's called Operation: Blast Off.

I know Ron worked on the series, but he wasn't the "creative genius" who came up with the characters - that was Larry Hama. Mr. Hama was a veteran and based a lot of the GI Joe characters on people he served with in Vietnam.
Ron might have helped make the toys, but Larry was the one who gave them life.

Still, impressive work! I've been to a few conventions where Mr. Rudat got a chance to speak about the characters and this depiction is spot-on! Dirty ol man

While I agree with your correction, I think we need to be fair about the sentence and meaning used: "designed the majority of the characters", not "invented the character profiles" which was indeed Mr. Hama's handiwork.

Mr. Hama was borrowed from Marvel Comics for that stuff while Mr. Rudat was in the Hasbro dept. where the costumes and accessories were designed, sculpted and painted for each action figure. I personally have yet to learn how much each figure's look was influenced by Mr. Hama, so at best I think it's safe to say that "Mr. Hama breathed life into Ron Rudat's action figure of Snake Eyes".
