This is a sketch I did for my daughter who is a massive Twilight fan (and fan of Alice Cullen in particular). I really like the look and costume designs for these characters so I'll probably end up doing more (I have a feeling she'll want me to do Edward and Bella next)

I wonder wtf Audrey1085 considers great writing. I ask only because SMeyer targets Young Adults and, unfortunately, her writing greatly reflects this. (Granted, I read the entire series like crack, even though I detested the lack of SMeyer's style.) To this day, I still wonder how a sentence such as "He whispered in a whisper" could get published. Wtf!

As to this art, your Alice is gorgeous! You did an excellent job capturing all that she embodies and also did a great job incorporating elements of Ashley Greene into her as well! :3 :+fav:

Nosir! The books are NOT well-written. However, they are still well-worth the read and I highly recommend them if you were as interested in the Cullens as you've mentioned! SMeyer wrote the Twilight saga with a Young Adult audience in mind and, as such, her writing is hardly worth a first glance. I'm not even sure how she won a childrens book award for Breaking Dawn, unless it was chosen by fans rather than an intellectual lot. This is not to say that fans of Twilight are incapable of a developed intellect. As I've said, I'm a Twilight fangirl and I'd like to think I can hold an intellectually stimulating conversation every now and again, lol.

A lot of the people I know who have issues with Twilight admit that this is primarily because they've previously established the vampyric lore that is Anne Rice as canon. With Meyer's lot, as you've seen in the movie, sunlight causes their skin to glisten as if it were encrusted with diamonds. Rice's vampires combust when exposed to sunlight, as you may've seen of Kirsten Dundst's character in "Interview with the Vampire". Lestat has fangs and prefers to bite at the neck, while the Cullens have teeth so sharp that the human flesh is, to them, as soft as butter. Meyer saw no need for fangs, since the teeth themselves could cut diamond. Just little things like this, coupled with the targetted audience, are what detracts older viewers and even teenage boys from the series. LOL- even Rob admits he's struggled through "New Moon" because it's from the point of view of an obsessive, emotionally attached teenage girl, to whom he finds it difficult to relate.

I wasn't a fan of KStew's performance as Bella, even though I saw the movie before reading the book. I just wasn't impressed with all of her stuttering. I assumed that was just part of who Kristen is, but then I saw "Adventureland" and realized just how sexy and incredible this lady is! :3
